It's known as health care, in Spain, médica1 care, healthcare, health care or health care in some Latin American countries, the set of services provided to the individual, in order to promote, protect and restore your health.1 It considered health care to prevention, treatment and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well-being through the services offered by the professions of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, nursing and allied.
According to the World Health Organization, health care embraces all the goods and services designed to promote health, including "preventive, curative and palliative, whether directed to individuals or to populations". The organized provision of such services may constitute a health care system. This may include a government organization such as, in the UK, the National Health Service or a partnership between the National Health Service and Social Services as in 'Shared Care'. Before the term "health care" became popular, English-speakers referred to medicine or to the health sector and spoke of the treatment and prevention of disease and disability.

In most developed and many developing countries, health care is provided to all regardless of ability to pay. The National Health Service in the UK was the first system of universal healthcare provided by the government. It was established in 1948 by the Labour government of Clement Attlee. Alternatively, you can provide compulsory health insurance funded by the government with a nominal fee, as in Italy. Other examples are "Medicare" in Australia, established in 1970 by the Labour government, and by the same name "Medicare" in Canada, established between 1966 and 1984, or Social Security in Spain. The universal health care contrasts with healthcare systems like the U.S. or South Africa, but Africa is one of the many countries seeking to reform their health care.
