Department of Health and Human Services of the United States

Department of Health and Human Services of the United States (often called short HHS) is a Cabinet department of the federal government of the United States whose purpose is to protect the health of all Americans and providing essential human services.
President Warren Harding suggested the establishment of a department of education and welfare have been in 1923, and similar proposals have been raised by presidents who served after him. However, for various reasons, none of these proposals was realized. Only on 12 March 1953 following established department reorganization plan submitted by President Dwight Eisenhower to Congress.
