International Vigil in Memory of the Victims of AIDS (in English: International Candlelight Memorial Vigil), is a program of the Global Health Council under the name of International AIDS Candlelight Memorial, which promotes the involvement of communities and individuals around the world activities related to the fight against AIDS by participating in a global vigil takes place every third Sunday in May and is led by volunteer coordinators worldwide. In 2006, about 900 coordinators conducted the event in 110 countries and is visited by more than ten million people.
It is one of the largest campaigns and mobilization oldest villages to the knowledge of AIDS in the first mundo.La International vigil in remembrance and solidarity with those affected by HIV, was held on May 2, 1983 in New York and San Francisco. The organizers wanted to honor the memory of those who died because of this "mysterious" disease and provide support to those living with AIDS and their families. Various organizations join in this campaign each year to remember the victims of AIDS and try to raise public awareness.
Objectives and significance
The main objective is to remember and support AIDS victims and their families, in addition to destroying the stigma generated around this disease. It also seeks to educate, engage, educate and raise awareness and create a dialogue with the community about prevention, care and treatment for the disease. It also manages to bring together professionals and students with other organizations and professionals in the same field. How is carried to term
The campaign working to hold the event every day officially begins December 1 and ends with the celebration of the same on the third Sunday of May. In December, the Global Health Council reveals the slogan and poster for the event, and the remaining six months working with partners to promote the event: coordinators who recruit volunteers around the world and direct them to carry out their events. Then in May the coordinators described the final report on what happened in the events for the council to publish its own annual report.
Collaboration as a coordinator:
Any person or institution can be coordinator. The coordinators representing diverse group of community members including doctors, nurses, students, teachers, researchers, business people, faith leaders, businessmen, politicians, etc.. Also those who represent the diversity of organizations (NGO `s), including facilities health care, foundations, universities, charities, businesses, governments, religious groups and private organizations.
Once admitted, the Global Health Council sends the packets to coordinators including coordinator manual, posters, and other information to assist you and your team in planning events.
Events can also be done in many ways, from a gathering of students at a mobilization of millions of people. The coordinators have held events in fields, parks, faith buildings, universities, etc.. Coordinate an event often requires building a team of helpers to divide the work in making a plan that fits your community, finding resources, activities, coverage, call marketing and media and community mobilization.
